Come From Away is a fabulous musical presented by Centre Stage at the Geelong Arts Centre. It’s the story of 38 planes unexpectedly diverted to land in the small town of Gander in Newfoundland Canada after 9/11. The population of the town went from 9,000 to 16,000, with the visitors staying 5 days. It’s a heartwarming story of how the passengers from all over the world, were welcomed into the locals’ homes & cared for.
The viewers of opening night were treated to a special surprise when Andrew Price who grew up in Gander, performed the ‘How to become an honorary citizen of the town’ ceremony on our Mayor Stretch Kontelj & the cast. They had to skull a drink & kiss a cod, they’d even found a real one.
Thanks Centre Stage for the backstage tour & fabulous experience.
