Brandon is a caring, giving member of the Geelong community. He’s an advocate for mental health, cultural diversity, equal opportunities, Human Rights, education, homelessness, the community and Type 1 Diabetes having lived experience. Working in a secondary school, as well as a Youth Activities Officer for the local council, he is also studying Secondary Education and aims to teach English in the Middle East.
He gives back by volunteering for Humans in Geelong, as wingman, writer, editor and photographer. He also volunteers for the Peace of Mind Foundation, a brain cancer support network for victims and families, assisting with fundraising and promotion.
Living with anxiety has allowed him to engage in photography and spoken word poetry, becoming recognised by Geelong health organisations. In 2016, he hosted a charity fundraiser for UNHCR raising over $5000 for the Syrian Crisis. In 2018, he was awarded a Community Citizenship Award for his work around community development, refugee inclusiveness, and showcasing the achievements of the local community.
