Art for Timor.

The Geelong-Viqueque Friendship Schools (GVFS) presents the inaugural ‘Art for Timor’ Art Exhibition.

‘Art for Timor’ celebrates the unique connection the Geelong community holds with the district of Viqueque in Timor-Leste. GVFS is proud to have maintained a strong connection with the people of Viqueque since the organisation’s establishment in 2008. The focus of GVFS activities is to improve educational opportunities for the Viqueque community.

‘Art for Timor’ opens at the Rachinger Gallery at the Eastern Community Hub:

Address: 285a McKillop Street (corner of Humble Street),
                                       East Geelong, Victoria 3219

                        Open: 2-28 November 2020

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

                                    Saturdays 9am to 2pm

The on-site café is a great chance to grab a coffee or light meal. Artworks and artefacts showcase this year’s theme ‘The Life and Land of Timor-Leste’.  Exhibiting in ‘Art for Timor’ is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the culture of one of our nearest neighbours to whom we owe a great debt of honour.

Geelong community members with connections to Timor-Leste, have unleashed their creativity to share their unique insights about life in Timor-Leste. It is great to be able to share these stories with the greater Geelong community.  GVFS hope that ‘Art for Timor’ will inspire community members to reflect upon their role as a global citizen.

GVFS encourage members of the community to visit the Rachinger Gallery at the Eastern Community Hub for a coffee, meal and gallery viewing. A perfect spring outing!
