International Day for People with Disability.

Today, December 3rd, is the International Day for People with Disability (IDPwD). To celebrate, VALiD’s peer action group, the Victorian Advocacy League for Individuals with Disability, have teamed up with us to present the Kid’s Kindness Art Competition.

Kids, win one of three $100 Adventure Park vouchers. Make a Kindness Art piece, about the size of A4, it could be 2D or 3D, that you can hang from a tree or fence at the free Humans in Geelong Expo, this Sunday December 5th. Bring it along to the Geelong Racecourse and attach it on the day. Or come along and make it at VAILD’s craft table in the Briseis Stand.

Make sure you have your name, age and school name on it. You could also add a kindness/inclusiveness message.

The art pieces will be collected to be kept and distributed by the Peer Action Group.

Note: People with low mobility, there will be hoist in the easy access toilet on ground level of the Briseis Stand, opposite the stage, hired thanks to VALID’s Peer Action Group.

Photo: Commissioned by the City of Greater Geelong, artist Mark Cuthbertson worked with artist-collaborators Robert Croft, Hannah Wilkinson, Christian Den Besten, George Macaronis and VALiD to develop the public art sculpture, based on over 85 contributions from the local community through a series of artist-led workshops. The resulting text-based works were curated by the artists and cast into the side profile of the I AM letters.
